Preview – Buddy Holly – Live And In Memoriam

I’ve always been a completist. Albums like this have always both excited me and disappointed me at the same time. Excited, because the recordings are a piece of the story and the history of the artist. Disappointed, because the quality is usually lacking. For the Buddy Holly fan (or fanatic) … there’s probably not much that’s new, here. However, what is new… is the upgraded sound quality. Noise has been removed or significantly reduced, frequencies have been restored, wow and flutter has been corrected, all tracks have been re-equalized, the live recordings have been improved and are a much more satisfying experience.

The 2nd half of this project is Snuff Garrett’s tribute to Buddy, recorded February 3, 1959. The recordings were provided by the Gordon Skene Sound Collection, but all existing copies are scoped, with the music removed.  In researching this particular recording and banding them together in the correct order, we have restored the tribute show to what it would have sounded like to listeners as it went out over the air live on that fateful day.   Downloads are below… These recordings are not banded. Enjoy!
